We specialise in neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, migraines and neck-related headaches, minor sports injuries, muscle spasms and cramps. Working with the human frame requires an understanding of biomechanics; which areas should move, its quality and when to resist movements. This is all controlled by your brain, via the spinal cord and nerves. Nerves sense movement via stretch receptors in the muscles, joints and fascia. This sensory feedback gives the brain the ability to control your body.
Chiropractic works by applying interventions to the muscles, joints and nerves. This improves the brain’s ability to control movements and often provides immediate relief. As the body is able to move better, it is more likely to recover. Chiropractic relies on the body’s natural ability to repair and heal, with proteins, fats and micronutrients from the diet.
In your initial consultation I will listen to everything you have to say and how your complaint has been affecting you. You will be asked questions regarding your medical history and lifestyle, to gain a thorough picture and understand your goals for working together.
What to expect
Using the information we have gathered, we will go through the underlying cause of your presenting complaint and give you a chance to ask questions. If it is suitable, I will advise on treatment options and how long it is likely to take to get better and reach your goals. The care I offer is not necessarily a quick fix and your recommendation is bespoke to your individual circumstances.
If it is appropriate, the consultation is inclusive of your first treatment. I am able to help the vast majority of patients. If I am unable to help you, I will refer you to someone who can.

What to expect
A chiropractic appointment is typically 10 to 15 minutes. Wear loose clothing for your treatment. Please tie up long hair and remove any items which may interfere with your treatment, such as jewellery or belts.
Spinal manipulation involves having you lie in a position with my hands on the area I will be working on. I will stretch the area, then apply a quick and precise movement. You will feel a stretching sensation and may hear a noise coming from the joint. Spinal manipulation improves joint mobility, reduces muscle pain and nerve irritation.

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality adapted from Chinese acupuncture, using current knowledge of anatomy and physiology. I may also advise on the use of supplements, to optimise your response to care.
